WHAT IS A VEHICLE REMAP?
All modern vehicles are fitted with ECU’s (Engine Control Units) which run the car via an onboard computer. This computer runs all aspects of the car and controls fuel injection, controls turbo, ignition and all sensors in the vehicle.
Due to the number of vehicles created by the car manufacturer for all manner of different climates, terrain and driving conditions they are given a ‘factory setting’ for the ECU. This can mean that the vehicle is not optimised for different driving conditions and habits as they use a more generalised settings for mass production. A remap changes the settings of the ECU to change aspects of how the car is run, which in turn can improve the Power & Torque,the Response and also the fuel economy.
Manufacturers will run the mass produced cars within power limits to have then sell in a lower tax group, which is a selling point for the average car user who does not want or need improved power and torque. They sometimes offer their own remapping service often named ‘Sports Upgrade’ or something similar, which is often overpriced. They do this after the vehicle has been registered so it is classed as a vehicle upgrade/modification, meaning they are still able to sell the car in a lower tax class.

Once we have found out what we need to do for your vehicle we then access the OBD (On Board Diagnostics) Port which allows us to plug straight into the ECU and make changes to the computer without removing anything from the vehicle.
It is important to remember that some vehicles are unable to do this and the ECU will have to be removed, though this will be discussed before hand
Once we have access to the ECU we are then able to make changes to the Torque limiter, fuel rail pressure and turbo. From here we can make alterations and improvements to the factory settings which will then be saved leaving you with an improved drive and more powerful vehicle. The original ECU file will be kept safely saved if it ever needs to be changed back for any reason.
